In this post, we will build a fun demo to introduce readers to the world of AR. We will be using Unity and Vuforia, which when used in conjunction allow developers to create highly interactive and immersive AR experiences that can be deployed on a wide range of platforms and devices. With Unity, a popular game engine, developers can create 3D models, animations, and other assets. Vuforia, a popular AR platform, will provide the necessary tools for recognizing and tracking real-world objects and overlaying digital content.
As a part of the demo, we will first provide the basic starting guide to set up Unity and Vuforia. We will further provide steps on how to re-create the Daily Prophet, a “magical” newspaper found in the popular novel series, Harry Potter. Follow along for an easy introduction to everything AR has to offer!

Learning AR
I had the wonderful opportunity of going through this activity with our team and it was a blast. I was surprised at how fast and easy this all came together! After a few quick installs of the necessary requirements, I was deep in a virtual reality space. As we wrapped up, the augmented reality came together really well and I was blown away that I could make this newspaper come alive!

Of course, I started thinking through a few fun use cases, namely in the Star Wars space, and now have a small backlog of things to work on.
